Digitized this design and then free -motioned around whole design, the block has some texture, I like that
an attempt at free motion using 4 hearts... these were a little smoother than the hearts on my quilt a long
one of the blocks in my boy baby quilt... for some reason, not all of my photos transfered...so I will have to go back in and scan the photo of the whole quilt, but it did get finished and I will be moving on..... would like to do the micro stippling today on my little quilt from the quilt -along.

Was hoping to have blanket finished today... I need to put the backing on and quilt...I did get borders finished. I have been working on digitizing designs in my new software program today...didn't mean to lose so much of the day...started texting with a friend and then started playing with software. I made a steer...haha and it stitched out! Go Me!

Oh my gosh... this is the back of my little quilt. My circular movement got better by the end... the feathers... honestly, I need to do another one I think,  and try maybe the bump method. I actually did better stitching the upper left side of the feathers, than the bottom left moving up. I need a lot more practice, not 100% happy with it so far, but am hoping the micro work will have things not be so noticable. Enjoyed it a lot, so I know it is something I will stick too and try again. I have trouble thinking through the pattern as stitching so I don't have to travel stitch so much.. I can do it on paper, but then as I sit to stitch.. it's like I freeze. Will keep trying. My back is a solid yellow, the front a yellow moddeled fabric.
Well, the last few days have been very busy at our house. My son is gearing up for his travel baseball season... Both my husband and I volunteer and finding time to sit in my sewing room is hard!

I did work on finishing all the applique work on my baby boy blanket.  Overall it got better, but as I first started... using the foot  and satin stitching... things were not working out at all! Like the flower above... the alligator turned out much better when I switched to a blanket/applique stitch. I am going to try to touch the flower up as I quilt the layers together. Today I hope to add borders and back and I will share finished project.

I was really stiff in my neck and shoulders from all that sewing yesterday... I really should learn to take a few breaks in between!  I got outdoors last night after some yoga and stretches and I can sure feel it in my abs this morning!!  :)

Today will be chores, workout, laundry, shower......  and hoping to finish all applique work on my blocks. Off to the Doctor this afternoon... wish I had a crockpot dinner ready to go.

Another beautiful 80*s sunny day for us! I am Thankful for all I have been given!

Well, I love the little owl quilt... I mean, really who doesn't love a chubby little owl? It was made for a cousin's daughter.... My machine went down on me and I am just now catching back up with my sewing Oh my... life sure took over! It was made from all polar fleece and it was nice to sew... will see how it washes up...

These are cotton fabrics with lots of applique, basically I wanted to try out the new machine..so I still have a lot of applique work to do on these blocks...fun though!
My quilt a-long..... I can't wait to get started! Still have to pin layers together... Come on first lesson! I chose  Moda fabric.. light colored to help me out with tracing.... but I all ready have some purple in my stash that will be next!
Good Morning! The weather is un-seasonably warm here.. making it hard to not wander outdoors. I prepped my fabric for the quilt a-long and I am excited to get started. I finished my owl blanket and began another baby blanket for a darling little boy. Will do my best to post pictures this afternoon! Off to get chores finished, some exercise in and get busy sewing!

I am done adding old photos for now.... seriously, I would never get any sewing done! I will be finishing up and uploading an owl blanket that was made for a special cousin, it has been fun, applique with fusible web and I am trying to incorporate more free motion into my quilts. I used fleece for this blanket... which I have only done a few times... boy is it a dream to sew.
I also found a really neat blog/website called freemotionquilting.blogspot, Leah is amazing and a wonderful teacher I plan on working with her on a project heart and feather whole cloth... will update as to how that is going... off to prep fabric now!
Happy sewing!!

I found these pics hiding in a folder marked stars... I think I was working on piecing triangles. I made 2 wall hangings for special friends, one in patriotic colors and another in golds. Then I made blankets for my 2 daughters . Simple and very enjoyable.

This little quilt is another fun pattern. The first set in greens was made for my niece. I was at a fabric store in the middle of summer and found the adorable little monkey fabric... I snatched it up and went home and started my special little set. It was the most amazing thing as later that fall, when her baby shower came to be..... I just showed up with my little gift, very proud of myself and the way it turned out! I was sitting at a table with my Mother-n-law (whom by the way, gave me my first sewing machine...many many years ago!) My niece was opening her gift from my MIL, and I about flipped out, it was a velour little blanket that matched perfectly with my set??? I kinda fussed about it a bit and asked her where she got it, she told me that the gift was on Jayme's registry... (which,,,red faced here... I never even looked at!)... and told her to wait until Jayme opened my gift...... well, a few gifts later... mine was opened and it was a huge surprise that we matched so perfectly! I thought that was pretty neat... that fabric that day.... just caught my heart and made me take it home.... how wonderful that it came together so well! I have that happen a lot. I believe there are angels watching over me... and they know how much love I put into my things.... and they guide me along the way!
The second quilt was made for my second grandson....I dyed the tie-dyed blue fabric and I used flannels..very comfy!,  Loved both of these!
okay.... I love them all right?!?!
Prairie Point edge on these

Okay, let's try some paper piecing...did I mention that I was a gemini and usually only happy when I try several news things at one time. This isn't my first paper pieced project... but this pattern is called spinwheels and I absolutely loved it! The golds were made for a special friend's daughter. Erin is a beautiful, smart young lady and I enjoyed every minute making it for her! I wish her many, many years of wedded bliss!

The second, done in purples was made for my Dad's sister. I will be totally honest and say... My father was an alcoholic, pretty much left our family when I was 9 yrs old. Something I really never got over.... but life goes on. His life caught up with him and he passed away.... way to early... my sister and I made the trip to Virginia to attend his funeral. It was a good, but sad trip. What impressed me the most was his sister's love... she took care of him until the end....  her forgiveness and faith in God really touched me. I went back home, with forgiveness for my father in my heart and I made this quilt to honor Jean.... I sent it to her and a part of my heart healed. I really loved my color choice.

A commissioned piece..and my first Snowball Quilt, made for a special Cheer coach in school colors. All of the girls names embroidered. Took a while to finish this one!

Not blankies, I am sure you noticed!
But, something I love to do... make clothing. My oldest daughter showed horses and talk about BLING, the more the better
there have been many, many Halloween costumes too, these are a couple of my favorites!
Okay...really? Time...where do you sneak off to??  The only good thing I can say about my lost week, uh, maybe 2 weeks... is that my sewing room has been organized and another little loving blanket finished... will post pics soon.
I am trying to learn more about free motion.. wow, there is a lot to learn!

Adorable little neighbor girl, Holly... we had a rough winter and she spent a few snow days at our house... she wanted to make a pillow for her new room that she was painting... so we did! She picked out everything and I believe she had a good time doing it! I hope I gave her the sewing bug!!!

My first try at seminol piecing with diagonal strips....wish I would of used other colors so it would od popped more... but it was for my son and he wanted camo!
Pathways

Done for an internet friend's daughter. We traveled to Iowa for her wedding. It was beautiful! More proof that I can color within the lines ;) and follow directions, this was a challenge. Loved it... cut those squares and put them back together!
Yippee, What do you know I can actually follow a pattern when I have too :)
This was done for another friend of my husband and the quilt block is called attic window.. I liked the way it turned out. I had to learn the tricky y seam... but it's all good! More applique and embroidery.

Well today has been a tiring day for the mind, don't get me wrong... I love the new software and how they make life just a tiny bit easier... but learning them and how Exactly to use them can be frustrating... when your mind wants to keep going back to the old ways. I thought I would take a break and upload more photos of past quilts... these were all free form, no pattern followed. A couple of them were actually just fabric panels and I then practiced my free motion by sewing around the designs on the panel. The third one was for a new family member, her arrival led to my mind to spring and I used fabrics with butterflies and ladybugs. The 4th in line was for a friend of my husband... A huge Earnhart fan... I practiced my applique techniques on this one and tucked in a few prairie points along the way. The last was for my first grandson... my daughter loves carebears and she helped with all the embroideries....good thing because we covered every block! LOL, each stitch- out took over an hour to complete. Lu was born in December...so it was a good winter project.
